One of my favorite ever internet finds is a musician who calls himself Birdie Hilltop. I first heard it on Said the Gramaphone a few years ago and ordered the two cds available from Frigital Records soon after. They came as a handmade, glued and spray painted package, the best kind of limited edition. For six months or more the album Surround The Birthday was in my cd alarm clock. It’s one of my favorite albums now, it sounds like waking up. Birdie Hilltop is currently working on a project with Chauchat and has recently posted all his music online for free, so now you can wake up to it too.

Jamie Thompson has released his first mashup album, with a second volume in production. He’s best known as the drummer from The Unicorns and Islands, but he was always overshadowed in those bands, so I’m glad he’s making his own name now. I was just a little sad to see no Subtitle remixes on this volume, still I can’t wait to hear more.
