… or installing OS X Leopard on a Fujitsu Lifebook T2010.
First, I read a lot on the Insanely Mac Forum and OSx86 Project Wiki. Feeling confident, I set sail for tpb, where I plundered the latest versions of the iATKOS and Kalyway seeds. I think I ended up using the iATKOS release, but it was pretty much a vanilla install, meaning OS X already supported the Intel 965 chipset. After a considerable wait at a blue screen, and possibly some tinkering, I was able to get booted. Then I set the device ids for the ethernet controller in the .kext.
At this point I was able to use the software update to install MacOSXUpdCombo10.5.2 and LeopardGraphicsUpdate, particularly for the X3100, which now works with 3d acceleration. There was a problem with the native screen resolution of 1280×800, so I had to install a program called SwitchResX before rebooting to create a display profile, which solved the garbled screen issue. Installing TabletMagic got the wacom working, and Apple even has their own handwriting recognition software called Ink. Now the boot times are fast, and everything works for the most part.
What doesn’t work yet unfortunately, are the airport drivers for the 4965agn (but they’re in development) and the power management functionality, as in sleep mode, but I haven’t really researched that yet, because I think without wireless, I’m better off switching to debian, or most likely sticking with vista. Curse you m$ and your not giving me an overwhelming reason to curse you.
As an anecdote, the default screensaver for OS X seriously freaks out my cat. She looked up and literally flew backwards out of her seat. She can’t stop staring at the psychedelic octopus.
